I took these pictures of Khufu, Khafre, and the Sphinx, and wrote this haiku while on a trip visiting Cairo and the temples along the Nile River in March, 2006 (I added the Photoshop illustrated effects in 2015). I also wrote the haiku above.
That these structures were built more than 3,800 years ago by a people that no one even remembers remains one of our great, unsolved mysteries, a perfect font for inspiration and wonder from which any writer should be able to draw upon.
